KUANTAN: Two men claimed trial in the Sessions Court here to 10 counts of rape and one count of oral sex on two underage girls.

Deliveryman Shamsul Shamsuddin, 26, pleaded not guilty to five counts of raping a 13-year-old girl when his charges were read out before Sessions judge Unaizah Mohd Friday.

Shamsul, who was in a black hoodie and red shorts, allegedly committed the rape between March 22 and 26 at a hotel in Jalan Mat Kilau here, and at a house in Jalan Kg Jawa on March 27.

Muhamad Zakia Mohamad Zainu, 23, pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of oral sex on an 11-year-old girl at a house on Lorong Abdul Rahim Kampung Pahang here.

The lorry driver from Pasir Puteh, who was in a white shirt and black jeans, is accused of committing the offences between March 17 and 26.

The charges of rape fall under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code and if found guilty, the two accused face up to 20 years in prison and a whipping for each charge.

For oral sex, the charge falls under Section 377B of the Penal Code, and if convicted Muhamad Zakia faces up to 20 years in prison and a whipping.

DPPs Farahah Mohd Nazari and Shahrul Ekhsan Hasim prosecuted while the accused were unrepresented.

Unaizah did not offer bail for the two as Muhamad Zakia is a neighbour of one of the alleged victims while Shamsul said his father does not have enough money for bail.

The cases were set for mention on May 12.
