The University has strict policies on parking issues. Those who park illegally will risk being clamped. Even with a vehicle entry sticker, drivers may still still find it hard to get parking spaces on campus. If they park outside of parking spaces, their vehicles will get clamped by the Security and Safety Department.

It is nothing but an ordinary sticker. However, it allows vehicles to enter the campus, and not every student have the privilege of getting it. Due to this reason, other issues came up. Some of the students who got the stickers tried selling it to the others at a high price. Car stickers which were originally sold at RM 100.00 were sold at RM280.00, while motorcycle stickers which only costs RM10 , were sold at RM100. Out of desperation, there are also students who went to a third party and mad

Another solution is to go back to the original mode of transport – cycling. Cyclists have less parking issues, but it will take a longer time to get to the lesson’s venue.

A tiny corner mechanic shop that made my head turn countless times just to look at its old charming beauty. The running business of Mr Lai has been going on for years, and his little space has been known to be aesthetically pleasing to many.

The round frames down the corridors here are definitely one of a kind, it’s the little features like this that makes this town feel like an old rustic soul.

These spaces between all these walls are filled with stories of the past simpler times. People may drive past these streets every day and the stories may not be known to all, which makes these buildings a beautiful mystery.

There is no surprise that when one is in Kampar, one could explore numbers of heritage sites in this thriving town, especially The Kinta Tin Mining (Gravel Pump) Museum. Kampar is best well-known for the heydays of the tin-mining industry that have brought riches to this historical state. As walking into the outdoor compound, there were several gravel pumps and palong (a method where the tin was separated from the sludge) displayed to the visitors.

Apart from wonderful artefacts and life-sized replicas of olden days’ min workers, the museum also exhibits several heavy machineries in its outdoor compound which were widely utilized during its heydays of the tin-mining industry.

There are a couple of large models of open-cast mines exhibited in the main exhibition halls. Visitors are usually fascinated by the display of the life-sized dioramas featuring real heavy mining equipment that depicts well how hard the mine workers to look for precious mineral.

A Glimpse into The Past

It was an early morning at 7.30 but UTAR Grand Hall was bustling with bliss and joy, liven up by the total of 592 graduands and their families at the first session of graduation. All the graduands were seen lining up in the hallway, waiting patiently to enter into the hall. Their families, meanwhile had been invited into the hall to be seated, prepared for the ceremony to begin.

Aristotle once said “the roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet,” as the graduands proudly parading their way into the Grand Hall, such a symbol of how their 4 years of university education comes to an end and step into the new stage of life. By empowering themselves with knowledge and skills, they knew that they will always be ready to accept any challenge in future.

Eunice, 5, was seen running around outside the Grand Hall while waiting for her sister to come out after the graduation ceremony ended.

A warm and tasty bowl of kimchi broth with ramen and an egg, paired with sliced carrots and chopped scallions. Slurp worthy.

In ancient China, small wooden boards can be seen hanging in shops. These are used for fortune telling.

Art and Crafts made by students. In ancient China, when they grew up, the young men had to leave home, travel to the Capital to take the palace examination. If they do well in the examination, they may be awarded a position as a government official, and they will make their family proud. This painting depicts a scenery viewed from the boat. Imagine, a young man leaving with a heavy heart, looking back at his homeland, vowing to come back successful in order to change the fate of his family.

UTAR provides paid bus service for her students. However due to the shortage of buses and limited routes, students are less likely to comply with the basic manner of lining up. As if they miss the bus, it may cause them to wait for more than 30 minutes for the next operating bus, so the behavior of pushing each other to squeeze into the bus is a common situation.

It is not easy to successfully bid the car stickers. For the students who are unable to get the car stickers, most of them park their car outside the campus and walk extra miles to reach their classrooms. One of the most popular places for students to park their cars is outside UTAR east gate; there are some available parking lots. However, sometimes there are too many vehicles but too little available parking lots and students have no choice but to park their cars illegally on the roadside.
