Kampar: A Chinese man was found trespassing students’ hostel which is located at Kampar Westlake Manchester housing area in the middle of the night on April 12, 2017.

Yeap Chun Jie, one of the residents of the hostel had witnessed the whole incident.

According to him, the hostel was rented by him and another three friends of his.

“At first, my housemate and i heard the shutting sound of our ground floor entrance door, so we expected that our another housemate had come home. However, no-one came upstairs after a long time, so we decided to go down and take a look,” said Yeap.

“It was already 12.45 a.m. when we walked down to the ground floor,” Yeap added.

When they went to the kitchen which is located at the back, they found a man hiding beside the washing machine.

“The moment when we got into the kitchen, the light was switched off, therefore we were really shocked when we saw a stranger hiding beside washing machine in the dark,” said Yeap.

“The man looks around our age, i guess he is also a student,” Yeap added.

Yeap’s housemate, John then questioned him for the reason he came into their hostel, and the man gave an excuse saying that he came in to look for rooms.

“He then fled away quickly when we took out our phones to take pictures,” said John.

“We doubt that anyone would enter other person’s house without any authorization to “look for rooms” at this hour,” said John.

Yeap added that it’s also their fault that they forgot to lock the door, therefore the stranger could come in easily.

“I suspect that there’s other reason he entered our hostel at such a late hour, because just by three days ago, a pair of sport shoes of mine got stolen,” said Yeap.

Related cases had been continuously happening around Kampar Westlake.

According to a security guard of Westlake Kampar main entrance, most of the cars that have entered to the residential area are the students of UTAR Kampar.

“For every single car that enters into Westlake, we will let the driver to fill in personal details about his or her visit to the residential area unless they have residential pass,” said the security guard.

“It is advised that the residents should lock their door all the time. Even though our guards will be patrolling around Westlake area every night, sometimes we did not even know whether a person was an intruder or not when he could enter an unlocked residency easily,” he added.

A man was found hiding beside the washing machine at the back of the house.

Westlake Manchester is one of the earliest developed residential areas mainly for UTAR students.
