Johor Sultan meets MACC over bribery allegations

March 27,2017
KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar (pic) has granted an audience to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) following his allegations that he was offered a RM2mil bribe as an endorsement for a 'Tan Sri' title.

It is reported that MACC chief Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad met with the Johor Sultan at a luxury condominium in the city centre.

Dzulkifli arrived at the location around 8.30am, Monday and the meeting lasted until 9.40am.

He however refused to entertain the awaiting press before leaving.

Sultan Ibrahim also refused to divulge the details of the meeting to the media.

"I am going shopping," was all he said.

Last Saturday, the outspoken ruler wrote on his official Facebook page he was offered RM2mil to suggest the person's name to the Chief Secretary of Malaysia for a "Tan Sri" title.

He said he was ready to reveal information pertaining to those trying to buy him over to MACC and wanted the matter to be investigated.

In a statement, the MACC said they have identified an individual based on information given by Sultan Ibrahim.

"MACC will ensure that a transparent investigation will be conducted and an appropriate action will be taken in accordance to the law.

"MACC is honoured to have the support and commitment by the Sultan Ruler in combating corruption and abuse of power in the country, especially in Johor," it said.
