KAMPAR:

Kampar Westlake Homes is a residential area mainly for students of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). However, there are a plenty of cases happening around Harvard, a subarea under Westlake Homes which have severely threatened the safety of the residents.

On February 22, 2017 at around 8.20 PM, Miss Chan, who stays at Harvard claimed that she was being peeped by a stranger when she was taking shower in her bathroom.

“I was taking shower with my window opened at ground floor bathroom, I didn’t expect there’s a man peeping until I saw an OPPO smart phone shooting at me from the window,” said Miss Chan.

According to Miss Chan, she couldn’t see the suspect’s face clearly from the window, but she could tell that it was a man.

“ I am living in fear now due to the unknown videos or pictures taken by an unknown person,” said Miss Chan.

She also added that now she no longer dares to take shower with the windows opened.

Two days later on February 24, 2017, another case happened to Michael, who is also staying at Harvard area.

“I was inside my room until I heard door opening noise from outside and when I stepped out from my room, I saw a man going through my female housemate’s laundry which had been placed beside the bathroom,” said Michael.

According to Michael, when the man discovered him, he quickly fled off by a blue Myvi car.

Michael added “I suspect that these two cases might be committed by the same person.”

Harvard residential area is neighboring Cambridge and Imperial area which fall under the supervision of the same groups of security guards, who are in charge of the main entrance of the residential area.

According to the day shift security guard of the main entrance, Zul, so far he hasn’t encountered any suspicious person who has entered the residential area.

“ Any vehicles with no residential pass are not allowed to enter the residential area without providing personal details including name of the driver, vehicle number, IC of the driver and their destination place,” said Zul.

Even when the guards are doing their job right, nevertheless, this is not the first two cases happening at Harvard residential area.

One of the Harvard residents, David from UTAR Kampar said “ Cases like this continuously happen at Harvard area because the housing area is more isolated comparing to the others.”

He also added that there have been a plenty of theft cases happening around Harvard residency in the past history.
